Ecotherapy
“To walk in nature is to witness a thousand miracles” ~ Mary Davies
Ecotherapy, also known as nature therapy or green therapy, is a form of psychotherapy that brings psychological work into the natural environment. It offers an opportunity to reconnect with ourselves and the natural world while working through the challenges we face in life.
Most of us have experienced how being in nature can help us slow down, feel calmer and become more present. We may begin to notice our breathing, reconnect with our bodies, or become more aware of our feelings and surroundings. Sometimes, simply spending time in nature helps us rest, recharge and regain a sense of balance.
Ecotherapy takes this experience a step further by intentionally using our experiences and relationship with nature to support therapeutic growth.
At Hearth, your therapist accompanies you in exploring the issues that matter to you, using therapeutic approaches adapted to the natural environment. Through mindful observation, movement, reflection, creative activities and interactions with nature, you can explore your emotions, relationships, personal boundaries, life transitions and patterns of coping in ways that feel meaningful to you.
Interestingly, when we shift our attention away from focusing solely on ourselves and our difficulties towards engaging with nature, we may discover new perspectives. We can become more aware of ourselves, our relationships with others and our place in the wider world.
Nature becomes more than a backdrop for therapy. It offers opportunities to explore, reflect and learn from the rhythms of life — including change, loss, growth and renewal.
At Hearth, ecotherapy is about reconnecting with yourself, deepening your relationship with nature, and discovering new possibilities for living and growing.
Ecotherapy is founded on the belief that our connection with nature is deeply rooted in our evolution as humans, and thus, this connection can be harnessed to support emotional, psychological, and spiritual healing.

Why outdoor therapy?
Some clients find it easier to reflect while walking, sitting in nature, or engaging with the natural environment.
Outdoor therapy may feel less intense than sitting face-to-face in a room, while still being guided by a trained clinical psychologist.
Who might benefit from Ecotherapy?
People navigating stress, emotional difficulties, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship challenges and a sense of disconnection.
This is helpful for people who feel stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or overly cognitively trapped in their thoughts.
How a session works ?
An initial consultation to explore your needs, suitability and outdoor safety, including boundaries and confidentiality.
When Ecotherapy may not be suitable...
People in acute crisis, severe instability, privacy concerns, or medical safety issues.
